News Anchor: Am I Going To Trust God or Myself?
The general public’s perception of “the media” as liberal and anti-God is not a mantra Christians working in both faith-based and secular platforms really want to hear. It’s why Media on Mission highlights industry professionals like evening news co-anchor for FOX59 News in Indianapolis, Fanchon Stinger. She is not shy about voicing her love for Jesus.

Stinger currently anchors the 5, 6, 7 and 10 p.m. newscasts. I met her at a Hollywood premier event last year where she walked the red carpet for her role in God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness.
As a survivor of abuse within a dating relationship, she shares her triumph through faith publicly and believes her encouragement to others is foundational for her work. Singer is also involved with local and national anti-bullying initiatives, dating/domestic violence awareness, and mentoring/empowering women and young people.
In a recent Instagram post, she writes, “The question for me at the most critical times is always this: Am I going to trust God or trust myself? (when I trusted myself it usually added more confusion and chaos) I finally learned how to trust God in ALL things. To be honest, He is still teaching me how to do that at an even deeper level with more grace.”
Stinger begins the post: “Many of you often ask me how I developed such a strong faith. The short answer is, one incredible journey with Jesus literally walking me through every facet of my life… blessing me in the incredible highs and lovingly holding me up through the devastating lows… and there is more, much more.
“I’ve learned to cling to God’s promise ‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes before you: he will never leave you or forsake you.’ (Deut 31:6) It is a promise more powerful today than I ever realized when I was much younger. He has always been there.”
She continues, “God has been and is always right there when disappointment tries to destroy hope, when heartbreak hits like a ton of bricks, when betrayal threatens to break us at our core, through the evil of abuse, when friends turn into enemies. Even when we make the wrong decisions and the unexpected hits-no matter what you may be going through He never leaves our side.”
When asked about her abundance of peace and joy or how she developed “such a fierce faith,” she says that the journey has not been easy but her answer is simple. “It is ALL Jesus and my decision to trust him no matter the cost. His gift to me? The beautiful lessons he continues to teach me and my friendship with Him that fills a void only He can. That is the source of my peace and joy beyond understanding.”
